Detours

To avoid the major traffic congestion on Wellington when leaving Ottawa via the Portage Bridge, some routes may occasionally take the Macdonald Cartier Bridge. These detours are implemented daily and will allow them to make up the accumulated delay.

To find out more about the work planned for this summer on the different bridges in the region, check the Work onpage Interprovincial Bridges – Spring and Summer 2019.

Despite these measures, some delays are to be expected

Consequently, the STO asks riders to be patient and thanks them for their understanding. The most challenging periods in the system are from 7 to 8:30 a.m. and from 4 to 5 p.m. Residents who have a more flexible schedule and can change their usual travel patterns are encouraged to do so.

Every day, the STO makes changes to its routes depending on the developing situation. Transit riders are strongly advised to check the Web site regularly to get service updates via the System-Info alerts.
